Easter Egg Dyed Clothes Pins

Have you noticed how everyone is doing things with clothes pins? It's like the clothes pin has made a comeback. People are Mod Podging them, Washi taping them, sticking magnets to them for the fridge, hanging bunting by them, and the list goes on and on. Honestly, I'm pretty psyched about it. I love things that clip. I have big plans to Washi tape some clothes pins and then put magnets on the back of them to use for clipping things to the fridge.

For now, though, I ran across this fun way to dye them with Easter egg dye (I think I've also seen Rit dye versions.) After Mr. S, E and I dyed Easter eggs, I plopped two clothes pins in each cup of dye. I don't have a purpose for the clothes pins yet, so I kept the quantity low.

I left them sit for a long time. I wasn't paying much attention, but probably a whole naptime-- 2 hours. Surprisingly, they turned out great. The colors are super vibrant, unlike the eggs that were dyed in that same dye. And now, I have a cupful of colorful clothes pins! I'm glad that I bought one extra box of egg dye just in case it worked out and I wanted to do more later.

A Valentine's Day Yarn Wreath

I love making them. I've made Christmas yarn wreaths and every day yarn wreaths. I'll post some of those later. But for today, how about a hot pink wreath with conversation hearts?

My bow tying skills leave a little to be desired. These are easy to make, but quite time consuming-- especially the yarn wrapping. The conversation hearts are left over wood hearts from the map magnets I made for my mom. I just painted them with some pastel acrylic craft paint and then when they dried, I used a red Sharpie to write the words on them. Honestly, I only taped them on here because I think I'm going to re-purpose this as an Easter wreath of some sort. Normally, they'd be hot glued on.

A Tuesday Quick Craft

I had the urge to do a little crafty crafty this evening but it needed to be quick. I have a glorious kid game that I want to rig up but it's a little complicated and I'd need to run out for supplies. Momma's been in her pajamas since we got home from work at 4:30 so that's a big ol' N.O. on running out for supplies.

Valentine's Day is around the corner so I thought I'd go that route. Mr. S and I don't typically celebrate V-Day because our anniversary is only two weeks later. Very nice planning on his part, dontcha think? I'm not really accustomed to doing much of anything, including crafts or decorating for V-Day.

I pulled out a few felt scraps and some embroidery floss and whipped up this little puppy. It's hanging on a frame that is part of a collage in our kitchen. It's a very, very subtle nod to V-Day. Plenty for me.

Any other quick crafters? Whatcha making?
